Signed onto a blank business card and measuring approximately 1 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches, this is the autograph of Sam Spears. The autograph was obtained several years ago at one of his convention appearances (I believe FX in Orlando but I'm not certain- it was quite a while ago). Please note- the signature is real. It is the actual, hand-signed signature of Spears. It is not a pre-printed signature, autopen, or facsimile autograph.
About Sam Spears:
In 1960, Sam Spears was hired by Hassenfeld Brothers (the company that would eventually become Hasbro) after replying to their ad for for an engineer in a local newspaper. Hired on the spot, his first product for the company was the Frosty Snowman Sno-Cone Machine. A huge success for the company, it sold 200,000 units in its first year and made Sam a company hero. Shortly thereafter, he was put in charge of product development of what would go on to become one of the most successful toy lines of all time, G.I. Joe. Sam spent many agonizing hours over how to construct "Americans Moveable Fighting Man," a posable hero for boys that was not a doll and led to the coining of the term "action figure." Spears spent the rest of his time in the 1960’s developing more G.I. Joe products. Overall, he created hundreds of toys and games and retired from Hasbro in 1980 (though he continued to create and develop all types of products afterwards).
~Certificate of Authenticity/Provenance:
Excepting pack-pulled autograph trading cards, CGC Signature Series, signed Sideshow prints, and like collectibles, all autographed items Vault Collectibles sells were personally witnessed, by myself, being signed by the writer, artist, or celebrity in question. No third party is involved. Further, art sketches - and most published original art I sell - were obtained directly from the artist themselves.
