UP FOR SALE:  Vintage Fenton Cased Art Glass Vase Autumn Orange Vasa Murrhina Vase 4" No 6454

From the pages of my Fenton Glass, The Third 25 Years, page 76:

Vasa Murrhina, a beautiful glass with a lengthy history dating to ancient times, was reborn when Frank M. Fenton, inspired by an old Vasa Murrhina basket, directed Charlie Goe to develop this glass for the Fenton line.

Some of Fenton's Vasa Murrhina begins with opal glass which is rolled in varied-colored frit and covered with crystal before blowing.  The resulting pieces have an opal glass lining which can be seen through the crystal exterior. This technique was used to Autumn Orange (AO), the first gathering is crystal.  This is rolled in the frit, and subsequently covered with more crystal before blowing.  AO appeared in 1965 and was phased out by 1967.

Another beautiful cased color, combining unusual Fall colors of brown and orange over milk white, which was part of Fenton's Vasa Murrhina line. 12 different items were offered in the 1965 catalog, but this was cut back to only five shapes in 1967
