NOTES:
Weegee was a crime and street photographer and photojournalist, known for his stark black and white street photography. He worked in Manhattan, as a press photographer during the 1930s and 1940s, and  developed his signature style by following the city's emergency services and documenting their activity. Much of his work showed realistic scenes of urban life, crime, injury and death.   He used a police radio to find his subjects and then sell his dramatic pictures to the tabloids.
With 260 compelling black and white photographs printed in rich gravure. See photos. Text by Weegee. Forward by William McCleery, Editor PM Picture News. 246 pages.
