This unique item is samples of soft coal pea sized and larger Bituminous coal and Stabilized coke.

the lot weighs approximately 7 oz and comes in assorted sizes usually under a penny size.
7 oz is about half of what's shown on scale

The item was manufactured in the United States and has not been modified in any way.

It falls under the categories of display specimens, crystals and mineral specimens, rocks, fossils, and collectibles.

I find this along the Monongahela river bank in one location as its light and washes ashore as a pair.

This is a mix of stabilized coke and coal that was and is used in blast furnaces (there is a few extras probably a oz extra to make up for any rocks that are mixed in )
Coke is the lighter color and usually resembles lava in texture

Please note: this is unwashed coal and coke as found on the river bank. You can clean up to use as a specimen by letting it soak in bleach for a few days

What is Coke?  Coke is a grey, hard, and porous coal-based fuel with a high carbon content and few impurities, made by heating coal or oil in the absence of air—a destructive distillation process. It is an important industrial product, used mainly in iron ore smelting, but also as a fuel in stoves and forges when air pollution is a concern.

The unqualified term "coke" usually refers to the product derived from low-ash and low-sulphur bituminous coal by a process called coking. A similar product called petroleum coke, or pet coke, is obtained from crude oil in oil refineries. Coke may also be formed naturally by geologic processes

We also have larger pieces of coal, coke ,shale and even Red Dog samples available .
