Very rare Masons Wood Pigeon 22" platter. This pattern is very rare, but
to find a platter in this size and condition is even more so. It is
carefully hand painted in typical Mason's bold enamels, over a transfer
printed outline with additional hand gilded detail. This pattern is
illustrated on Page 124 of A Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns
published by The Mason's Collectors' Club. The underside base has
Mason's impressed stamp on the back, "Real Ironstone China". This dates
this piece to around 1813, during the early part of the 19th century,
which is also the William IV th period. This platter is over 200 years
old and is still very functional and displays nicely. With that said, it
is not perfect. There are no cracks, but there are some scratches, some
minor paint loss and some pitting in areas. The colors are still
beautiful and I think overall it is a lovely piece of Ironstone. By the
way this piece is not only very large, it is also hefty. It will be
packed very carefully with extra padding and double boxing. Please zoom
