Mr. Piastro was widely known in his later years as the conductor of the Longines Symphonette, an orchestra that was heard over 200 radio stations

He performed throughout Russia, Scandinavia and Poland until 1913

He made his American debut in Carnegie Hall in 1920, when he settled in the United States.

In 1922, Richard Strauss chose him to play the violin part of his sonata and trio on a tour of the United States.

Mr. Piastro was solo violinist, concertmaster and assistant conductor
