Volume 1 of WALT DISNEY'S LEGACY COLLECTION features WONDERS OF THE WORLD -- a collection of SIX previously released documentary films in the Disney "TRUE-LIFE ADVENTURE" series, which were originally released in movie theaters, and were subsequently shown occasionally on the 1950s television program DISNEYLAND, as well as WALT DISNEY PRESENTS in the 1960s; plus other NEW short documentary programs.

The first documentary film is WHITE WILDERNESS which was originally released in 1958, winning the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature 1958.  The film explores the wildlife of the Arctic regions of North America and how they fit together within the natural ecosystem.  Running time is 72 minutes.

The second film is WATER BIRDS, originally released in 1952, which won the Academy Award for Best Short Subject/ Two Reel in 1952.  It explores the various types of birds which live around lakes, oceans and other wet-lands, and has a running time is 30 minutes.

The third film in the set is BEAVER VALLEY, originally released in 1950, and winner of the 1951 Academy Award for Best Short Subject / Two-Reel.  The documentary is centered upon a single family of beavers, and the construction of their lodge. The running time is 32 minutes.

The fourth film is PROWLERS OF THE EVERGLADES, from 1953, which portrays the wilderness life of the Everglades in Florida. Running time is 32 minutes.

My personal favorite is the fifth film -- MYSTERIES OF THE DEEP -- released in 1959.  The documentary explores the amazing world inside the ocean depths, and has a running time of 24 minutes.

And the sixth film is WONDERS OF THE WATER WORLDS, initially released in 1961, which follows the transition of a small brook to its passage to a river, and finally to an ocean, with all the various life-forms with which it comes into contact along the way.  Running time is 1 hour.

This box set also includes several other previously unreleased full color documentaries, as well as commentaries and other features.

Another fine addition to any classic WALT DISNEY film library!
