Lord High Wizard

Three years past, Matt had found a fateful scrap of parchment in the college library…

Cross the void of time and space!
Seek and find your proper place!

The runes were a spell—and they had whisked Matt away to a world where reciting verse worked magic. There Matt’s talent for poetry had won him fame, power, and the heart of the woman he loved, the beautiful Queen Alisande…

Winning Alisande’s heart had been easy; winning her hand was going to be a lot harder. For—as she reluctantly explained—a queen has responsibilities, and marrying merely for love was out of the question. If only Matt had been a king, instead of a wizard…

That’s when Matt blurted out his vow to get a kingdom. And in this world of magic, no such oath could be broken. Matt would actually have to seize somebody’s crown—or die in the attempt!

Matt became a man with a mission.

The most likely conquest for this most unlikely conqueror was the neighboring land of Ibile. There the loathsome sorcerer-king Gordogrosso held the throne by use of his vile magics and armies of evil.

Matt marched off alone against the tyrant, gathering some peculiar allies along the way: a dracogriff with a grudge against wizards, a well-spoken cyclops, and a chased damsel. Even Matt’s old friends, Stegoman the dragon and the intrepid Sir Guy, joined the little band of adventurers.

Gordogrosso didn’t have any allies. He didn’t need them. The tyrant-king roused fell legions against the intruders. He dispatched fiendish sorceries and perverted knights who fought eagerly in the name of wickedness.

And against Gordogrosso’s evil genius, Matt began to fear that he was going to need more than a few stout companions and some well-worded verse…
