The chair is an original piece from the United States and is marked "1870" on one of the rungs. It is perfect for collectors of antique furniture and those who appreciate the unique style and history of this chair. 

This was purchased at an estate sale of an antique collector. The provenance sticker that was on the chair reads, "This Carpet chair was given to us by Mrs. Hahn. She refinnished it and had it reupholstered. Supposedly, chairs of this kind were desired on covered wagons. It can be folded.
