ILLINOIS CENTRAL STATION, CHICAGO


Central Station at 12th Street and Michigan Boulevard-a Chicago landmark since 1893.


Ground was first broken on June 4, 1892, and the building opened to public April 17, 1893. It now serves three major roads: the Illinois Central, Michigan Central and the Big 4 Route, all com- pletely electrified within the city's limits, and each an important thread in a vast, orderly network of rail lines that makes Chicago the transportation center of the world.
