Lovely 4 Piece Set of Momkid Korean Genre Hand Painted Cups and Saucers with Gold Gilding.
Korean genre paintings of the Chosun period(1392-1910) were hand-painted on ceramic wares and the art is reproduced here by Momkid Craft in this lovely hand painted cup and saucer set.
One cup and saucer set features a painting of men thrashing sheaves of rice on a log. Despite the stinging autumn sun, the men have taken off their shirts, enjoying the harvest. with enthusiasm. From the painting "Thrashing" by Kim Hondo (1745-) in "Picture Book of Customs by Danwon", Treasure 527.
The second cup and saucer set features women on a swing and bathing on Dano Day (the lunar calendar fifth day of the fifth month) and also depicts peeping monks from behind a rock. From the painting "Danodo" by Shin Yunbok (1758-) in "Picture Book of Customs by Hyewon", National Treasure 135.
Grand Prize Winner. Won the Presidential Prize at the 6th National Competition of Korean Tourist products(under the auspices of the Ministry of the Culture and Tourism and Sponsored by the Korea National Tourism Organization).
Comes packaged in a satin lined gift box with magnetic closure. Includes paperwork.
