COUNTRY CHRISTMAS
is the title of the BING & GRONDAHL (B&G) 2010 Christmas Jubilee Plate, commemorating 115 years of B&G Christmas plates 1895-2010. It features two small children looking out at window at a family of deer in a snow-covered landscape. A star ornament on the Christmas tree represents the Christmas Star, found on almost all B&G Christmas plates.
Artwork by Jorgen Nielsen. The scene is embossed on Danish porcelain and hand painted in traditional Copenhagen blue under the glaze. Diameter approximately 9 inches (23 cm). Pierced foot for hanging wire. Appropriately marked on the back including the three tower trademark of Bing & Grondahl.
The first Jubilee Plate was issued in 1915 to commemorate 20 years of what has become the world’s most popular and longest running series of collector plates. Jubilee plates have been issued every five years since then, all in the large 9 inch size, each featuring a scene taken from a popular Christmas plate from the past. The design for this 2010 Jubilee plate was first used on the 1997 Bing & Grondahl Christmas Plate.
