This is a drive belt that is part of the internal structure of many washing machines. It works with two different pulleys and a drive motor to ensure the washing machine spins. As the washing machine is used, the drive belt can experience wear and tear. If the drive belt is worn or damaged, it can begin to make strange noises. The drive belt can also come loose or unevenly worn and will need to be replaced.A screwdriver, a wrench, and work gloves may be needed to replace the drive belt. Unplug the washing machine and shut off the cold and hot water valves before moving the washer forward. Remove the back panel by taking out the screws and lifting the panel away. Take the old belt off of the pulleys and install the new belt.
