This is an album by the Canadian stars Les Filles. The music is a mixture of Pop and Canadian Rock with a definite female slant. Think Sister Sledge, Donna Summer, and Chaka Khan. Gorgeous, hook-filled, female French vocals that show a wide variety of styles with stunning arrangements. Many of the selections are designed for the dancehall, but there are some romantic ballads with beautiful acoustic guitar, as well as the beautiful and touching piano of a song like Vois. Perhaps the finest song here is the cut that they took for their name: Les Filles, with its stunning orchestration. As usual, those Canadiens don’t seem like they want to share their great music, but this one is a keeper. I just wish there was another record forthcoming. This one is a sleeper.
