Lord Rama is considered to be the ultimate example of chivalry, courage, balance, and obedience to Universal Spiritual Law of all of the entities in the Tantric Hindu (pre-Aryan) pantheon. Some of his titles are “The Perfect Man, “The Lord of Virtue, and “The Lord of Self-Control”. Because of this, the title Rama, is also used as one of the titles for the King of Thailand due to the desire for their kings to emulate him in every way.

The name Rama has two meanings: 1. the Supreme Brahman who is the eternally blissful spiritual self, and 2. the One (Vishnu) who assumed this enchanting form out of his own will. Then there is also the secret teaching of Rama as being the masculine form of Red Tara, and being a Dakini (Sky Dancer and Sacred Prostitute for the Goddesses and Gods). The metaphysical implications of this are worth meditating upon! One of my favorite Hindu books is the “Adhyatma Ramayana” which is also a wonderful meta-physical epic tale about the deeds of Rama. And, Thailand has their own national epic tale that is based upon this story. It is know as “The Ramakien (“Glory of Rama”). Both stories are good to study as they have a slightly different energy.

This brings us to my favorite parts of this write up in that the statue shown on the cover is often portrayed as being either Lord Rama, or as being Red Tara, depending upon the desires of the owner due to the perfect balance of masculine and feminine energies within them. Red Tara is one of the “Twenty-one Taras”, and is a more specialized form of the aspect of the Great Mother Goddess known as Kurukulla Kali, and they – along with Durga and Kunti – are the Goddesses who rule over Sacred Prostitution which involves the use of sexual intercourse for the purpose of spiritual healing and enlightenment. Here in the United State of America, one of the founders of the New Thought Movement was the late Charles Fillmore who wrote the “Meta-physical Bible Dictionary”. In that work he refers to Sacred Prostitutes as well as common prostitutes as being symbols of faithfulness. Then, there are also the Mudras (energetic hand positions) shown on the statue. The left hand is in what is a form of Ganesha Mudra, and when held up as such is about the manifestation of perfect concentration. This Mudra is done by placing the tips of the thumb and index finger together with the other fingers held up and slightly spread in a relaxed pose.

The right hand is held in what is known as the “Wisdom” or “Teaching Mudra”, and it is against a Naga bow. This Mudra is done my holding the hand with the fingers and thumb pointing up and slightly spread and relaxed with the thumb being relaxed and just a little bit forward of the index finger. Whenever a deity is shown with either a bow and arrow, or with a bow and the arrow having just been released, as is the case here, then this represents the of perfection of wisdom which launches the perfection of effort, concentration, generosity, morality (living a principled life), and patience.

While this empowerment will do all of these things for you, it will not turn you into a Sacred Prostitute. But, if you are one then you will be better at it.
