This well-known abstract titled, Composition in Red, Yellow, Blue and Black, was painted in 1921 by Dutch artist, Piet Mondrian.
Mondrian was co-founder of the Dutch abstract art movement, (De Stijl - The Style) and he created many distinctive artworks using straight lines, right angle and blocks of bold colours.
He was born in Amersfoort, Netherlands in March 1872 and died in New York in February 1944.
