Vintage BEADED NAME BABY BRACELET Strausbaugh Pink & Blue Milk GLASS Beads 4"

Back in the day when babies were born the hospitals created a Beaded Baby Bracelet and THIS is ONE of THOSE!

Originally, they were to identify the Baby to Match the Mother and would have the Mother's Last Name on it.

Later on as it was no longer needed as they began using plastic bracelets with handwritten names on the inside, the tradition was continued more as a keepsake and the bracelets would spell out the baby's name instead.

Now they only do the plastic bracelets, again the baby's bracelet matching the mothers.

THIS older BRACELET has MILK WHITE GLASS LETTER BEADS where each bead has the Letter "engraved" on both sides and then colored in black enamel.

It spells out "V. STRAUSBAUGH".

There is also a small PINK bead on one end and a BLUE bead on the other side.  Was this baby a boy or a girl?

A darker silvertone metal is used as the "clasp" bead.  The beads are strung on a thin string, back then hemp was used, uncertain as to the composition of this string.
