Two Redmon Wickerwork Picnic Baskets or Hampers, Choice of Wood or Metal Handles

BASKETS ARE OFFERED INDIVIDUALLY

(Will combine shipping for both)

Here is a very nice pair of Redmon branded picnic basket hampers from the mid century era manufactured in Peru, Indiana by the now 140 year old, fourth generation, W. C. Redmon Company. From a time when picnics were common family and community events. These hampers feature an extra large 22" wide and 12" deep wickerwork basket with double hardwood brass hinged lids and Masonite floors. One basket has lithographed metal handles and the other has bentwood handles. Otherwise, they are near identical.  Both have the original Redmon logo labels (not shown here) and the elastic silverware band on their lids.

Basket # 1)  Bentwood formed handles. In very good clean condition, unmarked with excellent wickerwork

Basket #2) Lithographed metal folding handles. In good clean working condition, however there are some localized stains on the inside bottom and a name has been marked with a felt pen on the bottom of one lid.  See the photos.

The Redmon Co. is still in business, though no longer making picnic baskets. The company's founding ethos has been to strive always for "magnanimity of purpose" based in the "Christian principles of morality, honesty, ethics, and just plain manners, because without these guideposts, the bottom line becomes nothing more than dross."  A fine mission statement so lacking in the business world today!
