Frederick John Thurston (1901–1953) was an English clarinetist. He was principal clarinetist of the Philharmonic Orchestra and can be heard on the Toscanini recording of the Brahms Symphonies. Thurston can also be heard on Volume 1 of Historical Clarinet Recordings on the Victoria Soames Samek's Clarinet Classics CD Label.

He taught at the Royal College of Music from 1930 to 1953 and wrote several books on clarinet techniques and tonality. Perhaps best remembered for his three volume set, Passage Studies for the Bb Clarinet, grouped by skill levels.

For Sale is Volume 2 of Passage Studies for the Bb Clarinet. This has 17 (2 page average) clarinet solos which stretch fingering and tonality of the performer beyond the beginning level. Scores include breathing, fingering and tonguing notations/suggestions. 28pp.

Folio sized softcover has intact cover with sewn binding. Interior is tight, clean and unmarked, but front cover has ink stamp of music store where once bought (adds no value). Wear at spine ends stabilized with tape.
