Shishito plant produce up to 4”-inch emerald green, slightly wrinkled, thin-walled peppers
Pods have a bright glossy green exterior, when allowed to fully ripen on the plant pods turn a vibrant red
90% percent of all Shishito will be mild, but theirs is a 10% chance they will be some heat!
When the pods are cooked, they have peppery taste, makes for a richer flavor, the Shishito becomes slightly smoky
They are prepared blistered in oil, finished with sea salt and served with the stem on as a finger food, can be broiled, grilled or sautéed
