The son shared these Fiesta pieces were mostly wedding gifts to his
parents in 1941 (or anniversary gifts to her from his dad) and were rarely
used, "mostly adored by his mom who was a West Virginia native and took
pride in her Almost Heaven heritage!" So fun!
Fiesta dinnerware, sometimes called
Fiestaware, is made by the Homer Laughlin China Company. The
solid-colored, heavy-duty pottery has been manufactured in a wide array
of colors and styles. Vintage Fiesta was created around the depression
era and was made in bright, uplifting colors to appeal to people and
lift spirits. During the 33 years that Homer Laughlin manufactured vintage Fiesta
pottery, eleven different glazes found their way onto the shapes of the
line. It is yellow that can lay claim to being the
longest running glaze of the entire vintage Fiesta pottery line. Since
inception in 1936, to the end of production in 1969, yellow remained
the central part of the vintage Fiesta rainbow of glazes.
Platters are in excellent condition! The usual pre-loved light surface utensil scuff wear and glaze pops (done during firing process) are to be expected from years of helping add color to Betty's
dining room china cabinet, but nothing that distracts from this
treasure of Homer Laughlin history! Chocolate does have a small dark mark on backside inside rim and 1 tiny ding to rim edge (see pic) on topside, but also does not distract. Please see enlarged pics for best description and details.
