Jackson Monument Richmond VA Vintage Postcard

This vintage postcard displays the Jackson Monument in Richmond, VA. The monument honors Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson, with a sculpture by F. William Sievers showing Jackson mounted on "Sorrel," facing north. Jackson, known for his brilliant military strategy, was a stern, Cromwellian type of commander, in contrast to the dashing Stuart. Lee called him his "right arm," and his death was a significant blow to the Southern cause.
