- Big Red Bell Pepper Seeds.
- This centuries old heirloom originated in central America, and was taken back to Europe via Spanish explorers around the turn of the 16th century. Due to its similarity in taste to black pepper, the fruit was named pimiento, or pepper, by the Spaniards.
- This is an especially sweet and productive open pollinated heirloom variety of red bell pepper. Thick walled flesh turns from green to deep red as the fruits get sweeter with maturity.
- Germination: Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before last spring frost date. Plant about 1/4" deep. Soil temperature must be at least 70° F for seed germination and 80° is best, so keep them in a warm area for the best and fastest results. Start pepper seeds three or 4 to a pot, and thin out the weakest seedling. Once established and danger of frost has passed, plant in fertile soil 30" apart.
