Tooled Leather Horse "Running" Towards the Viewer

The horse extends outwards from the background, giving the feeling of movement.

Hand painted. Signed in Asian characters and stamps. Decorative leather braiding design surrounding the horse.

About 13.75" by 10"

CONDITION: THere are some dings and small rips to the leather in a couple of places, and the leather frame is a bit smudgey - see pics. I haven't attempted to clean the piece.

I haven't had any luck in finding a similar piece, and not sure of actual origin.
