COFFINITE is a fairly common uranium
mineral. Typically, it has scattered
colors of yellow and black on its rock
surface. Coffinite is a member of the
Zircon mineral group. It was first
discovered at the Uravan Colorado
uranium area; it is also found at
Germany, Austria, and the Czech
Republic. Some Coffinite rocks have
been found with uranium densities
as high as 72%. Uraninite, another
uranium mineral, often occurs at the
same minefields as coffinite. Coffinite
is named after the famous American
uranium geologist, REUBEN COFFIN,
who lived from 1886 to 1972;
he died at age 86.
Jurassic Canyon NM is the
USA's richest location for URANIUM
rocks to be found, on or near the
ground surface. Radiation levels above
40,000. CPM are considered high
levels, with regard to comparison with
other natural radioactive rocks. This
rock, with 32,000. CPM response, is
mid-level. NOTE that applications in
industrial, medical, or military uses
have far higher radiation levels than
those found in natural uranium rocks.
AM-radio on Earth for four days.) The GRB of
October 2022 was labeled by astronomers as
the BOAT-GRB: "Brightest of All Time."
