David Lowell Rich directs this drama starring Lana Turner as Holly Parker, a woman of lower status who marries into the elite Anderson family. When a man who has been pursuing Holly dies in an accident, her mother-in-law commands her to change her name and leave the area to protect the reputations of her husband and son. As Holly proceeds to wander the streets, drowning her sorrows in drink, a man recognises her and threatens to expose her identity. When the man's body is identified, Holly is arrested for murder with her defender being her now adult son who fails to recognise her.
