Just two days before his wedding, Ben (Ben Affleck) is stranded in New York when his plane skids out of control. Together with eccentric passenger Sarah (Sandra Bullock), Ben attempts to hitch a lift to his wedding, but is delayed when the driver is arrested for possession of marijuana. From then on, nothing goes right for the hapless Ben, and the free-spirited Sarah affects the outlook of the straight-laced husband-to-be. As they travel across America, the oddly-matched couple realise they have a lot to offer each other.
