An evergreen creeping plant, forming a dense cushioned carpet, with each plant growing to 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 inches) tall and spreading up to 30 cm (12 in) wide.
The leaves are very small and remain green all year, completely covering the ground, and can even be walked on! When walked on, they emit a beautiful fragrance.
The flowers are a striking purple-violet, in bloom from May through to August, forming a purple-violet carpet with hardly any green to be seen.
These plants require no maintenance such as mowing, trimming, watering, feeding or any care – they look after themselves! The plants are hardy to -34°C (-30°F) and are drought-tolerant.
Attracts butterflies and bees.
