Offered is this vintage/antique pair of German porcelain figural candleholders with flower frog-like holes for flowers/leaves. Depicted are red, black and yellow hand-painted birds perched on branches of a cherry tree with a matte finish over the white, glossy porcelain. Each piece is slightly different from the other in shape and both are hand-painted on the front only. The candleholder cups fit 1/2” tapers. Water can be filled through the hollow cups. Both pieces are in very good to excellent condition. On one candleholder there is a small chip on the rim below the candleholder cup. It has been glazed over and must have occurred during manufacture. There are no other chips, cracks or repairs found to either piece. There is some minor wear to the paint, most notabley on the tip of one of the birds beak. Please see all photos for more detail on condition. Stamped “Made in Germany” on the base and “5901” on back. A unique candleholder set to adorn a table, mantel or shelf that can change with the seasons. For the bird enthusiast, these little birds closely resemble the Western Tanager, an American songbird.
