This delightful snack set is still in its original box. This is the plain variation of the Orchard Crystal Line by Newland, Schneelock and Piek. It is believed that they were made at the Hazel-Altas Glass Company. The box does not mention any brand or maker. (I believe the name on the side of the box is the retail store that sold them.) On the bottom of the box, a tiny clue is that the box was made by the Clarksburg Paper Company in Clarksburg, WV. The Glass Snack Sets Monograph from West Virginia Museum of American Glass says that these began appearing in NS&P ads in 1942. It also was shown in a 1956 ad. The cups came with either plain or beaded handles. This set has the plain handles.

The plates are clear glass and shaped like an apple. The cup ring is in the upper right corner. The plates are 8 inches wide and 8 1/2 inches long to the tip of the apple stem. The cups are 3 1/2 inches wide at the top, not including the handle, which adds another inch. They are 2 1/4 inches tall. When in place on top of the plate, the combined height is 2 3/4 inches tall.

There is no damage to any of the plates or cups. They appear to be unused. There may be some dust on them, as I've had them in storage, in the box, for several years. The box is worn, and has been marked on.
