CONDITION CLASSIFICATION GUIDELINES - Vintage and Antique

Due to the inherent nature of vintage and antique items, condition descriptions are subjective. We do our best to describe the condition of our items as carefully as possible  and/or we post several photos of the actual item.  Photos can be magnified to show details. 

We do not attempt to clean, polish, repair or otherwise alter any of our vintage or antique items including jewelry. Jewelry may show a patina consistent with age. We sell our vintage and antique items as acquired, as is.

MINT - Like new. Highly unusual to see this classification as by very definition antique and vintage and antique items and jewelry have either been worn or handled in some way. Additionally, there is the natural process of time-wear. 

EXCELLENT - Outstanding condition. The best grade you can reasonably expect for antique/vintage items and jewelry. No wear that is unusual for its age.

VERY GOOD - We place most of our vintage and antique item in this category as most all antique and vintage items show some signs of use consistent with age if even only visible under magnification. May have a small dent, ding, chip, light scuffing, yellowing, tear, crack or plating loss. Any signs of wear would be minor compared to the overall integrity of the piece and would not detract from its beauty when worn. More significant signs of wear on the back or inside of a piece may be included in this category.

GOOD - Perfectly usable and acceptable, but signs of use described above are more significant and readily visible. May be missing a stone or have a broken finding, a tear, material loss and obvious fading, a crack or crazing.

FAIR - Wear is severe and will need significant restoration or may be used for parts or scrap.

SCRAP/RECYCLE - Good for some usable parts, stones, crystals, or findings for jewelry design, inspiration, up-cycling, re-cycling, crafting or scrap.
