People Collector's Edition Star Wars: The Secrets of Solo May 2018 Magazine

‘PEOPLE’ ANNOUNCES SPECIAL EDITION STAR WARS: THE SECRETS OF SOLO
- Meet the New Han Solo, Lando & More
- Inside the Millennium Falcon
- Plus: How Harrison Ford became Han

PEOPLE’s special issue celebrating Solo: A Star Wars Story features an exclusive peek into Han’s origin story, how he won the Millennium Falcon, befriended an 8ft. Wookiee and – just maybe – fell in love long before Leia.

Eighty pages include a fresh adventure with beloved characters, out-of-this world creatures and a sparkling version of the fastest ship in the galaxy. Meet the newest additions to the cast and hear what they have to say about the characters they each play such as Phoebe Waller-Bridge (L3-37), Woody Harrelson (Tobias Beckrett), Paul Bettany (Dryden Vos), Thandie Newton (Val), Emilia Clarke (Qi’ra), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian), Alden Ehrenreich and Joonas Suotamo playing Chewbacca, and a few other familiar faces.

This inside look goes behind the scenes with the characters between the pages – within both their own lives and their movie – including exclusive photos and details.

Directed by Ron Howard, Solo follows a young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) as he meets his future co-pilot Chewbacca and gets his hands on the iconic Millennium Falcon.

“You get to watch him become who he is,” Ehrenreich says of his character.

What I like about the new film about Han Solo was that it shows how his origins are before the one we known him in the Star Wars movies.

Alden Ehrenreich confirmed his contract deal to appear as Han Solo extended for two additional films, giving the studio the option to pursue a sequel to Solo: A Star Wars Story, or feature him in other anthology films in a supporting capacity. Ehrenreich said he would like any sequels to differentiate themselves from the previous Star Wars trilogies by being standalone, in the vein of the Indiana Jones films, rather than direct follow-ups. Emilia Clarke, who played Qi'ra, also signed on for future installments.

Ron Howard said that while no sequel was in development, it was up to the fans to decide. Critics noted the film intentionally left room open for sequels. Solo writer Jon Kasdan said that he would include bounty hunter Bossk (who briefly appears in The Empire Strikes Back and is mentioned in Solo) if he were to write a sequel for the film. Kennedy also said that a film focusing on Lando Calrissian could happen, but was not a priority. Donald Glover also expressed interest in a spin-off film, saying he would imagine it as Catch Me If You Can in space.

On May 23, 2019, the hosts of The Resistance Broadcast encouraged fans on social media to use the hashtag #MakeSolo2Happen. The campaign was a mixture of celebrating the first movie and to spread awareness that a sequel is wanted. The campaign reached multiple people involved with the film, including Ron Howard. To express his gratitude, Jon Kasdan tweeted an image of three crime syndicate logos, hinting that future stories could still be in the works. Kasdan has hinted that a sequel could feature Jabba the Hutt, being an origin story of Solo partnering up with the character.
