Rare Mid-Century Modern Amethyst Purple BISCHOFF Hand Blown Art Glass 9.75" Bowl Ashtray

Made by Bischoff Glass in West Virginia, USA

Circa 1950s to Early 60s.

Shown in the Bischoff Catalogs as No. 112 (see pic)

This particular piece is VERY HARD TO FIND. I couldn't find another like it anywhere online. It has taken me a while to definitively identify it, but I can now say that it is indeed a Bischoff piece. This beautiful ashtray or bowl features a folded over, scalloped edge, 1.5" wide, crimped at approximately each 2.5" increment, and pulled on each end. It reminds one of a flower somewhat when viewed from the top. It is further complimented with a controlled bubbles "Bullicante" design. On the bottom there is a rough pontil scar.

Really a STUNNING Piece, if you have an appreciation for art glass. This vintage original is a stunning example of mid-20th century North  American glassmaking technique. This beautiful decorative bowl is a true gem for collectors of mid-century modern art glass.

It is in EXCELLENT CONDITION ~ No nicks, chips, cracks, flea bites, or damage.

Measures approx. 9 1/2" end to end x 7 1/4" wide x 3" tall.
