this piece does have a distinctive circular design around top knob - I am told it disburses heat away from handle/knob

PYREX item, name on edge 

-- ran my finger over edge where I suspect an imperfection, no sharp edges or grit, as in a crack or chip -- sold AS IS  -looks  like an outer layer did not adhere to the inner lid that has a defiite rounded edge

red in the knob is a light reflection -not there for real . ..

if you have invested the $$ in a set of this cookware, 

you will want this lid if yours has been damaged somehow

 -- or a spare in your pantry

SUGGESTION -- if you like to serve (hot bakeware on a heat resistant trivet at your dining table) -

 you can avoid the task of removing baked food to a serving plate, OR

serve the food in its baking dish - keeps food warmer, longer - 

HOWEVER more often than not, you have a spattered lid that is not very attractive

SO ---------- 

have a clean spare lid to place on your dish for the table presentation

VERY HELPFUL when you ALONE are serving many & want the presentation to look picture perfect

HINT---don't put a cold lid on a super hot dish, warm the lid in super hot water first
