First Baptist Church Sulphur Springs Texas Religion Paperback Book 1959
GREETING FROM THE PASTOR
It is with distinct pleasure that we of the First Baptist Church welcome the many friends and former members to our week of centennial commemoration.
With grateful acknowledgement for their contribution to the cause of Christ we look back humbly to the sentinels of a century who gave themselves faithfully to the matchless task of holding forth the Word of life.
Not until time shall be no more and we shall be gathered at the feet of Jesus will it be known fully just how important these last hundred years were to the mind and plan of God.
Our gaze cannot linger permanently upon the past, however, but must now be focused upon the future.
Spiritual conquests lie out before us.
We shall strive, humbly yet persistently, to give as good an account of our life stewardship as have these noble souls of the century just concluded.
Our consuming desire is to honor our Lord, "that in all things he might have the preeminence."
The current members of the First Baptist Church are promoting an aggressive program of work along traditional Southern Baptist lines.
We are up- holding cherished New Testament doctrines for which Baptists have stood through the years.
At the heart of our labors is an evangelistic fervor that longs to see souls won to our Lord.
Our missionary outreach continues to expand.
Through our organized life we are constantly attempting to enlist more people in a total commitment of their lives to the objectives for which this church exists.
