MERLE EDELMAN - RARE - DRAMATIC FACE/PROFILE - HAND SIGNED WITH LABEL. EUC. Not seen, 1970's striking heavy black lined face/ profile with piercing eyes and nose. This nearly perfect heavy block is a real attention grabber. Merle was fixated on eyes and noses. The seller obtained this from a former worker at his company in Canada. On the bottom left is the name Edelman engraved in cursive. On the side is the circular ED, Edelman label. The seller also had the acquaintance of the artist. The block measures 5"x5"x2". It is optically clear and would be a great addition to any mid cent or art collection. There is no buyers premium, and would ship fast.
NOTE: Merle J. Edelman was an Independent designer/ artist. B.1930. Studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art. He was a Page Scholarship Winner to Temple University's Tyler School of Art. Studied in Europe and all over the world. He Did work for Tiffany, Conde Nast, Vogue,, NBC,, Casa Bisque, Rubel, etc, etc. Worked in all medium. Exhibited in Cleveland Museum Art, Met Museum of Art, etc. Had his studio in the upper East Side in his townhouse. Was also an accomplished sculptor.
