To give a foreign visitor a comprehensive vision of the whole of Greece within a few pages and proportionate illustrations would tax the abilitites of the best writers and artists but an attempt is being made in this small volume, after giving a brief outline of the whole country, to deal with each major area on the mainland and each group of islands in a manner which, while covering the outstanding features of each and indicating what should not be missed, will nevertheless keep the narrative as compact as possible.
