Borup won fame and cemented his career with his trip to the North Pole with Peary. He was appointed the curator of the American Museum of Natural History shortly after this book was published. He was named to lead a trip from Nova Scotia to Grinnell Land: a high land and ice mass on Baffin Island, part of the newly organized Nunavit Territories of Canada which broke off from the NorthWest Territories just before the end of the 20th century. Unfortunately, however, he died at the age of 27 prior to the launch of this expedition for the National Geographic Society.
