The JLCooper Eclipse SX Midnight Compact Color Controller is a stand-alone event controller with a tactile, grading control surface that can be used with professional color correction and grading software. A component of the Eclipse CX Midnight, the Eclipse SX Midnight can be used in combination with Apple Final Cut Studio and Color without the need for a transport section (multiplexer). Equipped with 3 color-coded trackballs with rotating outer rings, the SX Midnight Controller provides colorists with precision control and tactile feedback over their workflow.

In addition, the SX Controller also includes 6 soft rotary encoders with corresponding displays for additional control during editing. Though these controls have been mapped to the more commonly used functions by default, they can also be reconfigured for other functions. Low-intensity LCD displays and user-friendly controls help reduce eye-strain and fatigue. Users can choose between LAN/Ethernet, USB, RS-422, or RS-232 interfaces to connect directly to a host computer with the interface type that is suitable for the application being controlled. Compatible with a variety of applications, the SX Midnight Controller can manage grading parameters for IFX Piranha Cinema, IRIDAS Speedgrade, Assimilate Scratch, and DVS ClipSter.

Using the Eclipse Joiner Kit, the SX controller can be combined with Eclipse MX (for sound mix control) and Eclipse TX (for transport control) to assemble a complete control interface. In addition to being compact (14.25 x 11.5 x 2.75" / 361 x 292 x 69mm) and lightweight (9 lb / 4 kg), the SX Midnight comes with a striking matte black finish and a low-profile design.
