201 Western Foothill Larkspur Seeds Garden Cut Dried Flowers Native Wildflower
Western larkspur aka Foothill or Coastal Larkspur. U.S. Grown seed. Attracts Hummingbirds, Butterflies, Bees. Perennial. Tall spike covered with spurred flowers in brilliant blue to purple and sometimes light pink or white. Rarely found in the wild, basically limited to national parks (Yosemite) Up to 4' tall. Blooms summer into fall. This wild delphinium needs plenty of moisture, yet the area must be well-drained. Plant the seed in spring or fall. If you spring plant, keep the seeds in the fridge until planting day. Delphinium occidental lives in meadows and mountain sides in northern California and requires a cold winter to germinate. The flower stalks of this species make great dried flowers, so you might want to dry some of yours for permanent arrangements. Easy to grow, pretty much carefree after established.200+Quality heirloom seeds.
Some American Native Wildflower seeds need to go through a cold winter to germinate. This plant is one of them. They do this so the seed won’t sprout in fall, only to have the seedling not make it through a cold winter. I have stratified these seeds to simulate a cold winter(stratification) This raises the germination rate considerably.
