Product description: This booklet is comprised of two articles written by Rev. Wesley P. Walters ("Joseph Smith's Bainbridge, N.Y., Court Trials" and "From Occult to Cult With Joseph Smith, Jr."). It provides crucial historical evidence that Joseph Smith was indeed involved in 'money digging,' in which he commonly used a peep-stone to search for buried treasure. Young Joseph was so well known for this "skill" that his reputation gained him work far from his New York home, which also led to complaints from locals about his magical activities being a pretext for fraud. This research provides evidence in the form of court records that show that Joseph Smith was taken to court because of this, although he was later given "leg bail" (allowed to leave town by the personal mercy of the judges involved). The importance of this evidence is that it proves that Joseph Smith was indeed involved in magic-seeking activities like peep-stone viewing, which he also employed in the translation of the Book of Mormon, a charge that has often been denied by Mormon leadership in the past.
