Tales From the Darkside: The Movie is the soundtrack from the 1990 horror anthology film directed by John Harrison. The music enhanced the individuality of the stories told in the film. Each one contributed a unique style to the particular tale. The orchestral terror of Jim Manzie and Pat Regan's Lot 249, the nasty atmospheres of Chaz Jankel's Cat From Hell, and the ironic melodies of Donald A. Rubinstein's main Main Title fit this movie like a glove. For this album, each composer was asked to create uninterrupted suites from his film cues so that the listener can sit back and relive the movie from start to finish; all the suspense, all the humor, all the scares. The film served as a spin-off of the anthology television series Tales from the Darkside. It depicts the frame story of a kidnapped paperboy who tells three stories of horror to the suburban witch who is preparing to eat him.
