Francis X. Ferg, was a master woodcarver, frame maker, and designer who was a founding member of the Philadelphia Sketch Club and a faculty instructor at the Art School of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This is a rare example of his craftsmanship. Hand carved in the arts and crafts tradition and gilded over red clay bole. This outstanding frame is museum quality and will make a wonderful presentation for an American Impressionist painting or any work from the early 20th century. The rabbet is 35 1/2" x 43 1/2". Smaller paintings may fit with the insertion of a liner. Outside dimensions are 43 1/2" x 51 1/2".
