This is for an exceptional original oil painting of the princess from "The Princess of Wisteria Wood" by Kurt Rueping signed lower right. The title is from a Chinese Fairy Tale of the same name. If you want a great story that isn't mainstream and over commercialized try to find it. This painting is a matching gem.

Early in his career Kurt Rueping(1909) worked for Walt Disney. Wanting to expand beyond Disney projects he went on to set up is own studio creating original works for many other great storytellers. This painting was a classic the day it was made in 1964.

*The frame on this is massive at 36" x 29" and very heavy at about 20lbs. Depending on the total price I can adjust more if this ships without the frame. The frame also has the title of the painting on a sticker at the lower right corner. Overall this would do well with a modern more refined frame.

There is some loose tearing in the upper right area of the velvet. You have to get close to see it. It doesn't show much otherwise due to the deep black velvet and some black color added to the panel behind it. You could leave it as is or have it mended from the back.

Black velvet canvas provides a deeper black contrast than any other medium. Very few artists can get the most out of it. This is a great work by a great artist. You will not find another piece quite like this.
