From the Manufacturer The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Metal Finishing Wheel combines conformability with consistent abrasive cutting action to provide uniform brushed stainless and satin finishes. The wheel is also used effectively to blend and match #3 or #4 mill finishes on stainless steel and to create brushed or satin finishes on items such as cutlery, and high-end appliances. On softer metals like aluminum, copper, and brass, Scotch-Brite Metal Finishing Wheels are used to blend out minor surface imperfections and handling marks while providing the desired decorative finish on products such as builder’s hardware, and plumbing fixtures. Typically used on stationary machinery, the wheels are available in diameters of 6" to 16" in and widths of 1/2" in and greater. This highly conformable wheel is convolutely wound on a core to run smoothly and help create professional finishing results. Available in grade CRS and MED. The Scotch-Brite™ Metal Finishing Wheel durable wheel uses aluminum oxide abrasive. Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral is a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use, whereas traditional abrasives, such as garnet, quickly wear down with use. Due to its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing use. Aluminum oxide is suitable on a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives are unique surface conditioning products with abrasives incorporated into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers. Combining abrasives with the fibers creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results for the life of the product. The open-web material runs cool and is load resistant, which keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the fibers. For more than a century, 3M has applied innovation and technology to improving our customers’ lives and supporting their business goals. Today the company, from its headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, serves industrial and commercial customers and consumers in nearly 200 countries. Abrasive Systems products, including a complete line of coated abrasives, microfinishing and microreplicated abrasives, and hardware accessories, provide the finishing touch for almost any surface conditioning application. The 3M brand, across thousands of products, represents consistency, superior quality, and value. Product Features
