Brand new factory sealed, 5 Slasher films from TGG Direct, a pretty good low budget label that attains some decent sourceprints based on previous releases I have seen on this label. I assume these are full screen as an aspect ratio is not given. This set is Out Of Print (OOP) and no longer being manufactured making it an instant collectible.
DEEP RED: Masterpiece of psychoshock from director Dario Argento (the Italian 'Hitchcock'), with David Hemmings ('Blow Up') as a pianist who witnesses the knife murder of a psychiatrist in Rome. Ingenious killing after ingenious killing follows, with the murderer playing cat-and-mouse games with victims.
Among the highlights; a woman being scalded to death in her bathroom, a man being dragged to pieces by a truck. Then Hemmings himself becomes the target for the killer and must now find the identity of the madman before he is cut to pieces.
CAT O' NINE TAILS: Early Argento murder mystery hit has Karl Malden as an ex-reporter, now blind, who persuades newsman James Franciscus to join him in a hunt for a crazed killer. They team up to investigate the murder of a guard at a genetic research institute. All hell breaks loose at the medical hospital as the killer goes on a rampage to cover up the original crime.
CRAZE: Corpses pile up as mad London antiques dealer Jack Palance makes a series of human sacrifices in the name of a pagan idol kept in his basement. Creative methods of murder include impalement, slashing, burning and scaring people to death. Great performance by Palance. Has a Hammer films vibe to it since Freddie Francis directed.
MURDER MANSION: Decent scares ensue when oddball characters (hitchhiker, motorist, heiress, lawyer, motorcyclist) are caught in a foggy mist and take refuge in the sinister mansion of Martha Clinton. Once inside, strange and deadly things begin to happen all around them.
SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER: A psychopath with a hook hand, the result of an accident while he was squashing dear ol' daddy with a tractor, is freed from a house for the insane and goes on a rampage of mass murder.
