Medicinal herb "Shy flower" Mimosa Pudica sensitive 50+seeds
Also known as the "Sensitive Plant", "Shy Plant", or "Touch-Me-Not".
These seeds, once germinated, will grow into a plant that responds to being touched. Its delicate leaflets will curl upwards when you brush them with your finger, similarly to a Venus Fly Trap. This plant is excellent as both an indoor houseplant as well as an outdoor garden plant
Mimosas of all species enjoy high levels of light as well as acidic and well-draining soil. M. pudica is tolerant of draughts and cold weather, however it does best in warmer climates with infrequent watering.
In a large pot with soil mixed from one part perlite and one part sand, sow the swollen seeds two centimeters deep. They should germinate within a few weeks. Make sure to keep the soil moist during this time.
As seedlings, Mimosas are prone to wind damage and should be kept out of stormy conditions as to not damage their fragile leaves. Water sparingly, only when the top of the soil has dried out.
Once the plants have reached 5 – 10 cm tall, fertilization can begin. Give an equally-balanced 10:10:10 fertilizer in conservative quantities to the plant. Make sure to use your gardener’s intuition with this: only give the plant nutrients if it shows signs of deficiencies or slow growth, otherwise the plant may be shocked at this young age. Avoid fertilization in the fall or winter and focus on supplementing the plant in springtime.
