SPIT SHINE DIRECTIONS :
STEP ONE : STRIP THEM DOWN WITH ALCOHOL OR SADDLE SOAP : SIMPLY REMOVE THE POLISH FROM THE BOOTS AND THEN WIPE DOWN WITH A TOWEL SOAKED IN HOT WATER..THIS WILL PREPARE THE BOOTS FOR THE POLISH TO GO ON .

STEP TWO :
  1. Get a can of regular kiwi and a can of lincoln (I never did like the parade gloss, but to each his own)
  2. Get Saving Private Ryan set up, because you should have seen it a few times before, because your going to be at this for several hours is you care to do it right.

You have to start by saturating the leather before you can bring a good shine to them. Lighting the kiwi on fire is something people did because they were NOT Informed correctly/thought its a good idea. Its not. Your just burning off all the oils that help the polish protect the leather and bring out a shine. You wouldn't light turtle wax on fire for your car would you? No. Ok, onto polishing.

I always used an old white cotton tee. The brown military ones weren't soft enough to bring about a good polish, but for the base layer, they work fine. Cut strips about a foot long and 4 inches wide. Double the strip over, so its 2 inches wide, lay across your fingers, grab and twist from the backside, warp around towards the outside of your hand and hold onto it.

Grab up yo' boot polish, and get a good healthy amount, and drop it onto your boots. Work it in. Like a lot of it. Spread it ALL over. Don't be that guy who only does his toes and heels. No one likes that guy.

Once you have it spread all over, I recommend using a heat gun. Take the insoles out, and use the low setting, and warm up the boot from the inside. This opens the pours in the leather, and then you heat it from the outside. This allows the kiwi to soak right in. As you heat it, it will turn grey very quick. Repeat this process over and over and over and over and over... Am I getting through? You need to do this a LOT. Its time consuming but WORTH IT. Makes all future polishing VERY easy.

So as you build your base layer, the kiwi will soak in slower and slower, until it seems like it wont turn grey. Once you get to this point, you can start polishing.

Let the boot cool down. Once its cold, use your soft cloth, and warp like i said before. get your parade polish (lincoln or kiwi, just not regular kiwi) and remove the lid. Place the lid next to it and put a little bit of water in it. JUST A LITTLE. Using a fresh spot of the cloth, dip it in the water real quick like, not soaking wet, just rung out wet nap moist. Start Forrest Gumping it. Wax on, wax off . Small circles. Little bit of pressure. Small circles.

Small circles. Small circles.

Work all around the boot until you have a nice sheen going from what polish is on the outside of the boot. Now you can break out your parade shine. Don't use a whole hell of a lot. Knowing how much takes time and experience. So get a new fresh spot on your rag, polish it up, and dip it into your water. The oils in the polish will make it so you have to chase the water around the lid. smash a water drop down with the rag, that's how much you need to use.

etc, etc, etc. Keep this up and you will see the shine REALLY come in. As you see the shine come in start even the shine all around the Boot..Trust me its alot of work but when you see the end result it will be easier every time .
