The shanks measure 7 inches long with a 2-1/2 inch purchase for a 2.8 to 1 levarage ratio. This is a great bit for starting a colt in the bridle or using on your great, broke cutting horse. The sweet iron mouthpiece will encourage salivation to lessen the severity of the bit. This is a nice light little bit that weighs 9.28 ounces. This is a GREAT stainless steel cutting or colt bit by Reinsman for the green or young horse.  The#640 Junior Cutter bit has a 5 inch wide medium port sweet iron curb mouth.  The shanks measure 7 inches long with a 2-1/2 inch purchase for a 2.8 to 1 levarage ratio.   The medium curb mouthpiece is 1-1/2 inches tall.  This bit was designed for riders and horses that like a solid bit that offers gentle medium control.  This is a great bit for starting a colt in the bridle, introducing younger horses into cattle, or using on your great, broke cutting horse.  The sweet iron mouthpiece will encourage salivation to lessen the severity of the bit.   This is a nice light little bit that weighs 11 ounces.
