STUNNING EAST INDIAN HOOK ON ACCENT BELT A stunning vintage piece of jewelry I bought on my first trip to India in the 1970's. I saw all these chic Indian women floating around in their flowing saris, draped low on their hips, with this gorgeous swinging cascade of silver that winked at you as they moved gracefully. I looked further into this intriguing piece of jewlry & discovered it was called a "Kandora" . A drapey waist belt worn over the saris. I bought this one which has a fabulous medallion that is enamelled in blue, green & yellow is connected to 2 smaller medallions in green, blue & brown. The chains connected these are like a pierced four leaf clover with little dangling circlets that glimmer & shimmer as you move ! 4 sets of cascading chains set off this magnificent belt ! 2 Flat hooks at the ends make it easy to hook onto any pair of pants ( casual jeans or dressy silks !), skirt or sari ! I've even hooked it together around my neck for a sensational necklace ! I got loads of compliments whenever I wore this, I know you will too ! There are no condition issues with this as I have always taken great care of this & kept it wrapped away when not in use. 21 inches long to the ends of the hooks drapes down about 5 inches below the center medallion. Weighs approx 86 grams of silver on my postal scale
